Scott is a director and practices out of both our Canton and Alliance offices. Scott defends management in employment related lawsuits and provides counsel and advice to employers regarding layoffs, discipline, terminations, sexual harassment and Family Medical Leave. In addition Scott represents employers on equal employment opportunity claims before the EEOC and OCRC, and advises employers regarding Union campaigns and NLRB elections.
After graduating from Alliance High School, Scott received his B.A., from The University of Mount Union where he served as both President and Vice President of the Student Senate and was a member of the National Honorary Society and Blue Key. He then received his Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University Petit College of Law where he was named to the Order of Barristers, was a Presiding Justice for the Moot Court Board of Advocates, and Champion of the 1996 National Administrative Law Moot Court Competition. In addition, Scott has previous legal experience with a law firm in Alliance and has served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the City of Alliance.
Scott is a member of the Stark County, Ohio, and American Bar Associations. He is a past member and chairman of the Plain Township Zoning Commission. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce and served as its Legislative Committee Chairman from 2000-2008. Scott is presently Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Legal Counsel to the United Way of Greater Stark County Inc., and served as president of the The University of Mount Union Alumni Council from 2006-2007.
Scott is a graduate of the 17th Class of Leadership of Stark County. He has been selected to the prestigious list of (2006, 2009 & 2010) Super Lawyer® - Ohio Rising Stars, a project of Law & Politics and Cincinnati Magazine, and has published numerous articles regarding current trends in both federal and state employment law. Scott maintains the exclusive AV Rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory as designated by his colleagues. Scott has been selected as one of the 2009 20 young professionals under the age of 40 presented by Ystark!, a project of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Scott and his wife, Kathy, reside in Plain Township with their daughters Madison and Natalie, and their son, Jack.
