The 2019 Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A. Samuel Krugliak Legal Scholarship has been awarded to Canton native, Madison Chapanar. Ms. Chapanar is a Juris Doctor Candidate at The University of Akron Law School where she has been on the dean’s list, is a member of the Akron Law Christian Fellowship, the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund Treasurer and is a member of the Sports Entertainment Law Society. Ms. Chapanar received her a B.S. in Health Sciences and a B.A. in Criminology from Cleveland State University summa cum laude where she was a member of the following activities: Vikings Expeditions; Campus Activities Board, Orientation Leader; Golden Key Society; Alpha Kappa Delta’s Honor’s Fraternity; and Jack, Joseph, Morton Mandel Honor’s College. She also has served as a substitute teacher with Perry Local Schools where she volunteered as an assistant coach for the Junior Varsity and High School Girl’s Soccer teams.
“The recipient of the award represents the characteristics exemplified by our late founding attorney, Sam Krugliak, whom this scholarship honors,” said Director, Ronald W. Dougherty, member of the firm’s Scholarship Committee. “We believe Madison’s academic achievements and deep commitment to civic involvement, along with the strong desire to practice in the area after completing graduation, are commendable.” The Samuel Krugliak Legal scholarship is awarded annually to assist law students who exemplify the firm’s ethics and who intend to practice law in any one of the geographic regions served by the firm within the counties of: Stark, Wayne, Tuscarawas, Carroll, Summit, Holmes, Mahoning or Columbiana.
